Sectors · Convening & events

A room full of the right people is an asset. Most events waste it.

We design and run convenings — delegations, roundtables, and curated networking — engineered to produce commercial relationships, not attendance figures.

The challenge

Contacts are not relationships. Attendance is not pipeline.

Most business events are built to fill a room and measured by how full it got. The organiser leaves with a headcount; the attendees leave with a stack of cards and no next step. The expensive part — the delegation flown across an ocean, the executives’ time, the reception — produces goodwill that evaporates within a week because nothing was designed to carry it forward.

A convening that actually moves business is a different instrument:

  • The guest list is curated for commercial fit, not filled for volume — the right forty people beat the wrong four hundred.
  • The format is designed so the conversations that matter actually happen, rather than left to chance and a drinks table.
  • The follow-through is built in from the outset, so introductions become meetings and meetings become deals.
  • The convening is understood as one move in a relationship, not an end in itself.

This is craft, and it is ours. Across the partnership we have designed and delivered delegations, ministerial and VIP programmes, sector roundtables, and community-building series on both sides of the Atlantic — and measured them by what happened next, not by the turnout.

What we unlock

Four formats. One firm.

Curated delegations

Inbound and outbound delegations built around commercial fit and run with the follow-through that turns a trip into a pipeline.

Roundtables & briefings

Small, high-trust sessions — general counsel, trade officers, sector leaders — where the value is in who is at the table and what gets said off the record.

Facilitated networking

Networking designed on purpose: the right people, a format that creates real conversations, and a reason for each introduction.

Community programmes

Standing series that build a durable community around a sector or corridor, compounding in value across each gathering rather than starting cold every time.

The method, applied

Think slow. We start from the commercial outcome the convening is meant to produce and design the guest list, the format, and the follow-up backward from it.

Act fast. The relationships that make a room worth being in already exist across the partnership — we can assemble the right people rather than hoping they register.

Win big. We treat each convening as one move in a longer relationship, so value compounds instead of resetting after every event.

Straight answers

Isn’t this just event management?

No. Event management fills a room and runs the logistics. We start from the commercial result and engineer the guest list, the format, and the follow-through to produce it. The logistics are the easy part.

Do you run these for companies, or for public bodies?

Both — companies building a US or UK presence, and public bodies and economic-development organisations running trade and investment programmes. The craft is the same; the guest list and the objective change.

How do you measure whether it worked?

By what happens after: the meetings booked, the relationships that continued, the deals that trace back to the room. Turnout is an input, not a result.

Have a room worth getting right?

If you are planning a delegation, a roundtable, or a series and want it to produce more than a headcount, we should have a conversation. AXEL assesses fit before committing. The conversation is the first step, not the commitment.
